UDOY Inc. recently hosted a successful fundraising initiative for Daffodil Day at Glenfield Community Hall on 9 August 2026. Organized in partnership with the Cancer Council, the event brought together community members, healthcare professionals, and civic leaders from diverse cultural backgrounds to raise funds for cancer research, support patients and their families, and promote public health awareness.
The morning kick-off session was chaired by Dr. Laila Arzuman, President of UDOY Inc., and officially inaugurated by Jade Bridgeman, representing the Cancer Council. During the kick off session, distinguished healthcare professionals shared valuable insights into cancer care, early detection, and symptoms. Oncologist Dr. Najmun Nahar and General Practitioners Dr. Shaila Zahid and Dr. Abdullah Al Mamun emphasized the importance of cancer awareness and timely diagnosis. Cancer researcher Dr. Meher Un Nessa spoke on the importance of research and funding in advancing cancer treatment. Collectively, the speakers highlighted the significance of initiatives like Daffodil Day in supporting patients, raising awareness, and strengthening the fight against cancer.
The dignitary session commenced with an Acknowledgement of Country and the Australian National Anthem, followed by a welcome address from UDOY Inc. President Dr. Laila Arzuman. This session was honoured by several distinguished guests, including Chief Guest the Honourable Philip Ruddock AO, former Australian Immigration Minister; Special Guest Mr. David Moncrieff, Federal MP for Hughes; Cr. Masud Chowdhury, representing Campbelltown Mayor Darcy Lound; Councillors Masud Khalil, Ash Rahman, and Eliza Azad; and former Councillor Dr. Sabrina Farooqui OAM. Physician, Dr. Sazeedul Islam spoke about cancer diagnosis and common symptoms, while cancer survivor, Dr. Nafisa Asif Shagota shared her personal journey and courageous fight against cancer, providing a powerful and inspiring testimony.
The event also welcomed a wide range of respected community representatives, journalists, and volunteers who joined together in solidarity to support the cause.
UDOY President, Dr. Laila Arzuman thanked all supporters and volunteers, noting that the event’s success was made possible through collective community effort. The event concluded with a vote of thanks and a raffle draw celebrating the community’s generosity and support.
